Trade Surplus narrows to $2.1 billion
Canadian exports declined by 2.3% in January, a somewhat soft beginning to 2012 after a torrid ending to last year. On: Sun 01 of Apr., 2012 20:59 EDT

To build a successful business, you have to come up with products and services that stand out from the competition. But to create those unique offerings, you need to know who your competitors are and what they are bringing to the market. Small and medium-sized companies often get too focused on their own business and fail to pay enough attention to what they can learn from the competition, says Normand Coulombe, a Senior Consulting Partner at BDC. “You can’t drive with your eyes closed”, says Coulombe, who has helped hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses. “You have to be aware of what’s going on in the market. You have to know what your competitors are doing.”

4 steps to improve your online sales

On: Sun 01 of Apr., 2012 20:57 EDT

A common misconception about websites is that once you have a professional-looking design, you should focus on attracting more visitors. While there’s no denying a site needs traffic, what’s the point if visitors never become customers? You don’t need more visitors. You need more visitors who “convert” into customers. The problem is that many businesses don’t track online conversions. This can be a costly oversight.
